Let me confess something that might get me kicked out of the marketer’s club…
There are “golden” marketing metrics everyone worships, and I’ve stopped caring about some of them.
Take average order value, for example.
Sure, it’s nice when it goes up… but it can also go up when fewer people are buying at all.
Translation: “Congrats, your store is making more per order… from way fewer orders.”
And don’t even get me started on engagement rate.
Likes don’t pay bills. Sales do.
The truth is, some metrics are just vanity mirrors. They make you feel good, but they don’t make you money.
If you want real growth, focus on the numbers that matter:
Repeat purchase rate (Are people coming back for more?)
Conversion rate (Are your visitors turning into buyers?)
Customer lifetime value (How much are they worth over time?)
Everything else is just background noise.
P.S. If you want help figuring out which numbers actually matter for your store, I’ve got a few tricks I can share. Schedule a call with me for FREE.
