(Kinda Regret It)

I did a thing.

I let a chatbot run my marketing strategy.

To be honest, I was swamped and had a lot on my plate. I figured, “Let’s see what the robot’s got.”

So I typed in: “Create a marketing plan that’ll make me rich.”

The response?

“Step 1: Understand your audience.”

😐

Bold of ChatGPT to assume I haven’t yet understood my audience after 8 years. Anyway, I kept going.

It gave me content calendars, subject lines, and campaign flows.

I ran the campaigns. Sent the emails. Launched the ads. Everything looked polished, professional, and terrifyingly robotic.

And guess what? My engagement flatlined… Turns out, the one thing the AI forgot?

Human connection.

The marketing strategy was technically “good, ”but it wasn’t “me”.

Here’s what I learned the hard way:

  • Templates can guide you, but they can’t be you

  • People don’t connect with perfection; they connect with personality

  • A message that sounds like everyone else’s will get treated like everyone else’s

So, if you’ve been wondering why your strategy’s suddenly not working as well as it used to…

Maybe it’s time to sound less like “a brand” and more like you again.
