December feels like the finish line. But for brands that grow year over year, it’s actually the starting line.


Most ecommerce teams spend this month chasing shipping deadlines, planning holidays, and “winding down.”


But, in all honesty, you’re supposed to be tuning up.

Because what you do right now, before the new year, determines how fast you’ll scale in Q1.


Here’s what to prioritize this week👇

  • Clean Your Data: Export your lists, scrub inactive subscribers, and tag your Q4 buyers. Come January, you’ll thank yourself when your open rates jump.

  • Audit Your Automations: When’s the last time you checked your welcome flow or post-purchase sequence? If your best-selling products changed in 2025, your emails should’ve changed too. Update them now while traffic’s still warm.

  • Refine Your Retargeting: Stop running the same “Buy Now” ads to everyone. Segment by behaviour, add-to-cart vs. past buyers vs. new visitors. Your CPMs will drop, and your Q1 returns will soar.

  • Review Your Creative Folder: Archive what worked for you. Then brief your designer on your Q1 content themes now, before January chaos starts.

  • Set Your Q1 Goalposts: Write them down. Revenue target, AOV, retention rate, whatever moves the business forward. If it’s not on paper, it won’t happen.

While everyone else is coasting, you have a window, a few quiet weeks to reset your systems, tighten your message, and start the year already in rhythm. Don’t wait for January motivation.
